The Sun had already said good bye. It was around 7 and evening chill had started showering its effect; surrounding was filled with silence and darkness, except some invasion by street lights.
Due to some sudden work, “He” made a move to get his bike, which was parked in the open space. As he moved, he saw a person sitting, alone on the bench, near his bike. As he paced further, he could figure out the person there was “She”, with her back towards his bike. To avoid any face-to-face, he silently moved towards the bike, and was taking it out of stands very quietly. But all his efforts to move without her getting to know resulted futile as she heard some sound. She turned her face, without actually moving rest of her body at all, just for two seconds. She recognized it was him, and turned her face to its original direction without uttering a single word. He, also, didn’t make any effort to get into a conversation, not even a “Hi”. It appeared like they were total strangers to each other. He, definitely, hadn’t wanted this because of some reason, which only he or she was aware. He started the bike and moved off.
This was not the first time of such a kind. They have had many such speechless encounters earlier too. But this time was uncommon. Even though she didn’t say anything, but in that short moment, her eyes expressed a lot. It incited into him an urge to speak to her. He wanted to sit, and share her loneliness. But again like previous instances, he couldn’t muster enough internal drive to express anything and within seconds disappeared with his bike, leaving a trail of dust mixed with smoke.
The way he accelerated, was not his usual style. He seemed to be in a hurry to leave from there. This sudden encounter with her had started playing on his mind. As he moved out of the gate, he was gripped by good old memories of his initial acquaintance with the girl.
It was day one of a new academic session at a new institute. There were all new and bright faces, with so many dreams in their eyes, around him. All were dressed best to their considerations. Among them, there was this guy, Veer. Like others in the room, he was also decently dressed but nothing that will catch someone’s eyes. His eyes were continuously in search of something. His penetrating eyes were moving, in a motion resembling that of a search light, to find some known face. It was then, when he got first glimpse of her. He hadn't known her, but a special feeling ran through his nerves. She was a spectacular and spotless gorgeous. Her glittering eyes on an amazingly beautiful face were astounding. She had a great smile; at the same time it was mysterious as well. This was Sejal, whose complete description would demand countless adjectives.
Days passed by, interactions increased. He started enjoying her company. She was simple and comparatively less spoken than other girls. Some of her character traits were not very usual girly types. Sometimes her behavior was considered weird and exceptional even by other girls. Veer, though, was flattered by the girl. He didn't consider her exceptional, but for him she was “Unconventional”. Thereon, he started to find opportunities to spend more time with her. Relationship started building up, their friendship prospered. Once he asked her out but refusal to his luck. He could not understand it; probably it was her unconventional behavior or conservatism. He tried it few more times. Success in this matter was difficult to Veer’s luck. Though he didn't have any such intentions as he was well aware of his limits and boundaries, it started sending wrong signals to her. This all started in misunderstandings and errant behavior. With time their friendship deteriorated even further. They started avoiding each other. They stopped looking into each other’s eyes even if one passes by the other. Veer knew that neither he nor the girl was wrong. He, usually, thought “I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you understood is not what I meant".
Suddenly the bike screeched; Veer didn't even realize that he had applied the brakes and was standing right in front of his destination. He quickly finished his work there and started on his return-ride. While coming back, he didn't let himself fall in deeps of those memories. Also, he decided not to make things complex anymore when they can be avoided to…but “How” was the question, which was boggling him. With these thoughts, he kept riding till……………………
